After a thug had robbed the driver of the taxi in South Africa on Tuesday, he thought he could escape by jumping into another taxi.
But when the second driver refused, saying he didn't travel the route the thug wanted, the thug produced a firearm and demanded money from him too.
But brave driver Sinethemba Zanekile (21) refused.
They started wrestling for the weapon and the thug shot himself.
The incident happened close to the police station and the drivers ran to report the incident.
Cops handcuffed the thug before he was transported to Mitchell's Plain Hospital.
"I managed to fight for my life and when the shot went off we both stopped. I saw him bleeding and knew he wasn't going anywhere. So I left him and went to report the incident," said Sinethemba.
Captain Elliot Sinyangana said: "A robber got into a taxi and robbed the driver and then got into a second taxi, but the driver fought him off and the robber ended up shooting himself. Two cases are being investigated."
