Zimbabwe's security forces have been commended for maintaining peace in the country at a time when most African countries are conflict torn.
Delivering his fourth and last presentation to students attending the Joint Command and Staff Course Number 25 that focuses on the Chinese foreign and defence policies, outgoing Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Mr Xin Shunkang underscored the importance of having a strong defence force that can withstand any foreign threats.
He said China abides by international law and universally recognised norms governing international relations to an extent that the country does not interfere in internal politics of another country.
Ambassador Shunkang commended the work being done by the country's security forces, saying during all the official functions he has attended in his capacity as ambassador, he has witnessed high levels of professionalism from the security forces.
"I would like to acknowledge the tremendous job that the Zimbabwe security forces are doing, especially if we look at what is happening in North Africa," said Ambassador Shunkang.
He highlighted that China has sent more than 21 000 security forces on UN peacekeeping missions, which is the highest number compared to other countries which make up the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council.
55 security personnel drawn from the Zimbabwe Republic Police, the Zimbabwe National Army, the Air Force of Zimbabwe and some neighbouring countries are attending the Joint Command and Staff Course number 25 at the Zimbabwe Staff College in Harare.
