Lattis Security Company has been ordered to pay a $200 fine on or before Friday next week or risk having its property attached after being convicted of causing unnecessary suffering to a dog.
The company, which was represented by Artwell Magombedze from the dog base department, had initially pleaded not guilty before Mbare magistrate Gladys Moyo.
In passing the sentence, Moyo said she had taken into consideration that Lattis Security Company had caused unnecessary suffering to the dog and that the animal had to be killed.
"Your company uses dogs in the execution of its duties and profit-making purpose and should, therefore, take good care of them," Moyo said.
The security company is accused of using an injured dog in executing its security duties and further denying it food and water.
