A LEADER of Johane Masowe WeChishanu Jerusalem Baptism Church shocked his congregants and family when he reportedly refused to attend his wife's burial claiming that he was busy with God's business.

Madzibaba Elisha Gwaze's wife reportedly collapsed and died at Jerusalem shrine in Guruve where they were having their annual baptism and Passover meeting.

Madzibaba pulled a shocker when he excused his family from attending his wife's burial claiming to be busy with church programmes.

A reliable source who attended the Guruve meeting said, "It was on 26 October when we heard that Madzibaba Elisha's wife had collapsed in the shrine. "She had blood coming from her mouth and nose. She was then taken to Guruve hospital where upon arrival she was proclaimed dead."

The woman's death was announced at the meeting, but since it was a crucial church meeting which had congregants coming from all African countries, it is alleged that only a few were released to go for burial.
"Everyone expected that Madzibaba will excuse himself since he had lost his wife, but he never did that. He sent a number of people to go and bury the woman at their homestead.

"When they arrived at the homestead, the woman's family refused to bury the woman saying that Madzibaba Elisha had not paid bride-price.

"He was told about the drama at his wife's funeral wake, but still he was not moved. After being told that his in-laws were demanding bride-price, he ordered his relatives to take five herd of cattle from his kraal and give them," said the source.

The woman was then buried, but it is reported that her family was not happy with their son-in-law's behaviour and they might demand payment for disrespecting them.

"It is really shocking for someone to choose not to attend his wife's burial because of church commitments," he said.

When the Johane Masowe Chishanu Jerusalem Baptism Church leaders were contacted for comment, they kept referring this reporter to another one claiming they could not talk with the media and the last apostle said, "I have no idea about what you are talking about because i was in South Africa. Let me find out and will call you later."
