15-year-old pupil Kelebogile Morule from Stinkwater, in Tshwane, SA was badly beaten on her way to school last week.
She was on her way to school but missed the bus and decided to walk.
But then a man approached her and insisted on walking with her.
"I had seen him a number of times at a shop in our area and I didn't want to associate with him," she said.
But then the man pulled out a gun and told her to go into the bushes with him.
"I refused and he fired a shot in the air. I think he wanted to scare me," she said.
The girl grabbed for the gun and a fight started.
"He hit me many times in the face with the back of the gun," she said.
"I started feeling weak and I couldn't scream or fight. I lost consciousness."
She was found some time later by school friends. Kelebogile's mother, Lydia Morule (38) asked why somebody would want to hurt another person that badly.
"Three days later my daughter's face is still swollen," said Lydia.
I don't know what to do to take away the pain."
"I want justice. I want this man to be locked up."
Warrant Officer Sarah Lesabane of Temba police confirmed that a case of attempted murder was being investigated.
"We are calling on anyone with more information to come forward," she urged.
