Pretoria - A Johannesburg lawyer who crashed into a group of pedestrians, killing five people, while allegedly drunk and speeding in his BMW X6 near Sun City, appeared in court on Tuesday.
The 35-year-old lawyer's name was not revealed, Beeld reported on Wednesday.
He was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday morning at the scene of the accident in Ledig, which is about 5km from Sun City.
The lawyer allegedly crashed into a group of 12 people, killing five and seriously injuring seven, as they were walking home on the R556 access route after a night out.
A police spokesperson said the lawyer was alone in his car and speeding when the accident happened.
He was released on bail of R10 000.
He is facing charges of drunken driving and culpable homicide.
