A group of women may have been divided when it came to which football team they were supporting, but they were united when it came to dealing with a man described as badly behaved when drunk.
The women from Small Farm in the Vaal, south of Johannesburg, one dressed in a Pirates shirt, the other in a Chiefs shirt, and a third one in a Bafana shirt, said the man gets drunk and then tries to drag women to his shack.
Two women chased the man down the street while the other smashed a bottle on a pole and stabbed him in the back. All the while, they were taking his clothes off.
He later surrendered and walked away, leaving his torn clothes on the dusty ground.
The women said the man had tried to rape a woman outside the tavern.
Shortly after the attack the man was back, looking for his clothes and refused to identify himself.
Residents who did not want to be named said the fight was about a sex deal.
"When the man and the woman couldn't agree on the price, the girl called her friends," said a resident.
An eyewitness said the women saw the man buying beers and wanted money from him. Another resident said they got into an argument because the man had urinated in front of kids in the area.
The police were not called.
Soon the injured man was seen going back into the tavern to continue drinking.
Constable Tshifhiwa Mitileni said: "We have operations every weekend to remove drunken residents like this from the streets."
