Self-proclaimed prophet jailed for 5 yrs for killing a snake

GUTU - A self-proclaimed prophet from Zviratidzo Apostolic Act will languish in prison for the next five years after he was convicted of killing a snake with the intention of using products from it for his work.
Shadreck Parichi (35) of number 46 Malvin farm in Gutu was found guilty of killing a 1.6m long python and was sentenced to five years imprisonment.
It was the State’s case that on November 5 this year, Police detectives from Gutu police station working on a tip off, went and searched Parichi’s home where they recovered a python skin.
Parichi had skinned the python and took the oils which he alleged he wanted to use to heal his clients.
The accused again claimed that the python oil can be used to sanctify a homestead and chase away the evil spirits that might be haunting a family.
Magistrate Nyasha Vhitorini slapped him with five years imprisonment and ordered the National Parks and Wild Life Management to take the skin.
Agatha Gabriel appeared for the state.
