A Binga woman claims her husband ordered her to sleep with a snake a few days after tying the knot.
Nyoni was apparently beaten by her husband Moffat Nkomo after she refused to be intimate with a reptile.
The couple got married in early June and things were fine until the night of 13 June when Nkomo told his wife that he was not going to sleep in their matrimonial hut but will pave a way for a guest.
Apparently in the dead of the night, Nyoni was visited by a snake in her bedroom and she got scared and screamed to attract the attention of her husband.
To her surprise, Nkomo was reportedly not moved by whatever she had come across and actually told his wife to go back and satisfy what she ran away from.
Nyoni is said to have refused, prompting her husband to tell her point blank that she had to go back to the bedroom and sleep with the snake because it was the source of their wealth.
The refusal by Nyoni to listen to her husband's orders resulted in a thorough beating.
For beating his wife, Nkomo was hauled before Binga Magistrate Mr Steven Ndlovu facing a charge of physical abuse.
He pleaded guilty to the charge and said his wife disturbed his sleep.
He however said he moved out because he suspected the snake belonged
to his wife.
Nkomo was remanded out of custody to 5 July for trial.
