25-year-old Lionel Messi of FC Barcelona was withdrawn at half-time of yesterday's 2-2 draw with Paris Saint Germain in the Champions League quarter-final first-leg.
The Spanish giants will be desperate to have their talisman back for the delicately poised return leg next Wednesday.
Barcelona confirmed: 'He will undergo further tests on Wednesday to determine the extent of the injury.'
Messi bagged his 53rd goal of the season in the 38th minute of last night's clash before being replaced by Cesc Fabregas, but Barca's assistant coach Jordi Roura tried to play down any fears immediately after the game.
'Of course it will be a big loss if we lose Messi, the best player in the world,' said Roura.
'But we have Cesc (Fabregas) and other options, so we are confident from that point of view.'
Barca will also be without Javier Mascherano for between six to eight weeks after he ruptured knee ligaments in yesterday's draw.
