Rihanna added some star power to London Fashion Week on Saturday as she launched her first clothing line.
The singer was in the capital city to unveil the sexy collection, created for British retail chain River Island, which echoes her own raunchy style.
Models paraded through a tiered runway in midriff-baring crop tops, thigh high boots and sheer monochrome dresses as hip-hop music blared at the Rihanna for River Island show.
Speaking to reporters at the event, Rihanna said, "My first Fashion Week in London is my show. That's amazing."
At the end of the showcase she emerged to take a bow, and later celebrated her debut with a night out on the town with British model Cara Delevingne in Soho nightclub The Box.
The verdict was that she did good.
With a hearty nod to the ‘90s the line was wearable, and very Rihanna. As she herself admitted: “In a selfish way, I designed a collection that I could wear”.
Be with the 1990s spaghetti strap dresses, dungarees, mechanic suits or her signature hoops, Rihanna’s pulled a ‘Kate Moss’ – i.e not got fussy with her fashion line – instead just replicating her own wardrobe for less.
Meaning, if you love Rihanna and/or River Island, Rihanna's line will be sold at River Island stores from March 2013.
