Government has dismissed allegations by the opposition parties and non governmental organizations that food aid being distributed is being done in a partisan manner.
Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Minister Prisca Mupfumira said it was Government policy to give food to everyone in need.
Reports have been made by opposition parties that their members were being sidelined during food aid distribution due to the fact that they are not Zanu PF card holders.
Mupfumira urged people to report instances where such incidences may have happened so that offenders are punished.
The Minister revealed that the country had stocks enough for the next two months and importation of more maize had begun.
She said the country needed about 700 000 tonnes of grain in order to meet the country’s requirements and at least 94 000 tonnes had been imported so far.
