THE bail hearing for MDC-T youth secretary, Kunashe Muchemwa, arrested in Bulawayo last week over his alleged links to the public violence that occurred in Harare a fortnight ago, will take place at the Harare Magistrates' Court today.
Police allegedly picked up Muchema (34) after they had identified him through a photograph captured during the skirmishes. The picture shows Muchemwa and his alleged accomplices picking up stones near OK Supermarket along First Street in Harare.
Allegations against Muchemwa are that on August 24, he teamed up with his accomplices, who are already on remand, and conspired to cause public violence in the city. They allegedly torched a police truck and a Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation van before going on a looting spree.
The other suspects, who include Tajamuka/Sesijikile pressure group spokesperson, Promise Mkwananzi, were last week denied bail by magistrate Tendai Mahwe.
Muchemwa, who denied any involvement in the matter, is being represented by Jeremiah Bhamu, while the State is represented by Sebastian Mutizirwa.
