Primary and Secondary Education Minister, dismissed reports that teachers who produce poor results will receive a salary cut.
The reports alleged that teachers at all schools which register below 50 percent pass rate at Grade Seven and O-Level would forego their April, August and December salaries.
Lazarus Dokora, Primary and Secondary Education Minister disputed those claims as a "cruel media hoax".
"Those claims that found their way into national newspapers without foundation at all".
"As far as the ministry is concerned, we've not received any official communication on the teachers' salaries," Dokora told a local daily newspaper
Ministers feared that the false reports risk demoralising teachers countrywide.
