A lecturer with United College of Education in Bulawayo is in trouble after allegedly denigrating a workmate he accused of looting food from the college when he caricatured her hiding the supposedly stolen food in her pockets.
Lecturer Andrew Sibanda (61) allegedly pasted the cartoon of his female colleague, Debra Simangaliso, 34, all over the college.
In his comic strip Sibanda depicted Simangaliso growing "fat" claiming it was because of the food she was allegedly looting from the college.
When Simangaliso who is employed as student affairs clerk confronted Sibanda to explain the meaning of his cartoon Sibanda reportedly verbally insulted her with abusive words.
Sibanda went on to allegedly kick Simangaliso on her buttocks.
After the assault Simangaliso reported the matter to her superiors who advised her to report it to the police leading to the arrest of Sibanda.
For the offence Sibanda was brought before Bulawayo magistrate Charity Maphosa to answer charges of assault and criminal insult.
Sibanda is denying the charges and the matter was postponed to 5 December for continuation of trial.
