MOVEN Madhende, an Injiva whose wedding to a second wife was disturbed after the first wife pitched up at the wedding ceremony with the couple's two year-old boy has finally tied the knot with his newly found lover after they reached an agreement with the first wife.

Madhende was arrested on Saturday at an up market lodge in Gweru moments before he could exchange vows with newly found lover, Rejoice Machingambi.

This was after it turned out that he was on a police wanted list for defaulting paying maintenance for the upkeep of his two year-old son with the first wife. Yesterday, Madhende's first wife, Rumbidzai Chipuma said she has withdrawn the case against her estranged husband and had given him the green light to proceed with the wedding.

"Relatives of Madhende engaged me and I have since withdrawn the case from the police. They agreed to pay part of the money, which Madhende owes me as maintenance for the upkeep of our child," she said adding: "We reached an agreement on how he will be paying the maintenance as and what he is still owed on monthly basis. The agreement between me and Madhende was signed before the police leading to his release." Chipuma said her action to disrupt the initial wedding ceremony between the two lovebirds was not out of malice. She said she held no grudge against her estranged husband but wanted him to be responsible.

"We have a child together and I don't need to force him to remain in marriage with me if he wants out. I only wanted him commit himself for the sake of the child. I wish him the best in his newly found love," she said. Meanwhile, Trynos Tasiyana, who was speaking on behalf of Madhende's family, confirmed that the wedding between Madhende and Machingambi proceeded on Sunday after they managed to "strike a deal" with Chipuma.

"We paid something towards what she (Chipuma) claimed and the wedding proceeded well. We are very happy that the two finally tied the knot. Madhende had a tight schedule and has since returned to South Africa," said Tasiyana who said he was the best man at the makeshift wedding ceremony which was conducted at the bride's parents home in Mkoba Village 9.
