A man was forced to shoot his daughter and her husband dead after they invaded his home and shot two other family members dead.
According to police, 43-year-old Josephine Ruckinger and her husband Jeffrey Ruckinger, 43, arrived at Josephine's parent's house highly armed and ready to murder at about 10 p.m. Friday night.
"They parked at the bottom of a long driveway, and walked up, heavily armed," said Cambria County D.A. Kelly Callihan."it was a home invasion that was (also) a murder plot."
John Frew, 67, and his wife Roberta Frew had just returned home with their son, John Frew Jr., 47, after the three of them dined at a local restaurant.
The family was watching television in their mobile home when Josephine Ruckinger and her husband rang the door bell.
Roberta Frew opened the door and cried "Oh my God, they have guns," just before Josephine shot her dead at point blank range.
Jeffery Ruckinger barged into the home and shot John Frew Jr. multiple times in the chest, killing him.
John Frew Sr, Josephine's father, ran to arm himself in a back bedroom when the gunfire erupted.
He was in the bedroom when Josephine walked into the room, knelt on one knee and pointed her shotgun at him.
Frew Sr. shot Josephine in the head without realising that he had just shot his own daughter.
John frew Sr. then shot Jeffrey Rucking dead when he tried entering the room a moment later
When officers arrived on the scene, Josephine Ruckinger was still alive, but was pronounced dead at a local hospital a short time later.
Roberta Frew, John Frew Jr., and Jeffrey Ruckinger were found dead at the scene.
Investigators found a gas can, lighter fluid and a large amount of ammunition in Josephine Ruckinger's car.
Police have not yet determined if the Ruckingers intended to burn down the Frew's home following the shooting.
Relatives have told local news media that the daughter had a long-standing hatred towards her family and became estranged to them during her teen years.
When Josephine was about 20, according to a relative, she and her boyfriend trashed her parent's house, stole a pistol and then fled to Pittsburgh.
The family was also angered when Josephine and her husband allegedly bilked her grandmother for a large amount of money before her death in 2007.
