Kelcey Nicholas, 28, and his step daughter, Lataura Jarrett, 21, were arrested Friday after admitting that they have been involved in an incestuous relationship.
According to the Nicholas County Sheriff's Office, deputies had arrived at Nicholas' home where they planned to arrest him on a home confinement violation when they observed Nicholas and Jarrett involved in a sexual encounter.
Deputies investigated the matter further and discovered that Nicholas had been married to Jarrett's mother for the past 5 years, and is still married to her.
During a police interview, Nicholas and Jarrett reportedly admitted to having a sexual relationship and estimated that they had slept together at least seven times since July 15th of this year.
Jarrett lists herself as "divorced" on her Facebook profile, but also describes herself as a "stay at home mommy and wife."
She also gives herself one last name in one Facebook profile, but then gives herself two last names in addition to her maiden name on another profile.
Although Nicholas and Jarrett are not blood related, Nicholas assumed the role of step father during his marriage to Jarrett's mother and Jarrett referred to him as "father" under that arrangement.
Prosecutors studied West Virginia law as it pertains to the definition of incest and determined that the relationship fit the legal definition of incest.
Nicholas and Jarrett were booked into the Central Regional Jail and charged with seven counts of incest.
Nicholas also faces a charge relating to the matter of violating home confinement.
