A Florida man was charged with leaving his toddler in an unlocked pickup truck while he partied in a strip club early Sunday morning, police said.
Jordan Caraway, 25, was charged with misdemeanour child neglect for the incident at Dixie's Gentlemen's Club in DeLand, reported The Smoking Gun.
A strip club employee, Laurel Santiago, found the 3-year-old unattended in the parked GMC pickup and brought him inside an office in Dixie's to call police, according to the arrest warrant.
Santiago said she saw Caraway drinking inside the strip club with a male friend, authorities said.
A responding deputy said the child was "visibly upset and crying hysterically." He also described the victim's clothes as dirty and noted "grease and dirt on his body."
The boy's mother, Alicia Lewis, told deputies that she left the toddler in Caraway's care when she left for work Saturday afternoon.
Lewis says she called Caraway about 1 a.m. and he told her that he was at a party with the baby. During a second phone call, Caraway asked her to pick up their child at the strip club, she said.
Caraway claimed that he left the child with his friend Jeremy Donahue while he was inside the club," according to The Smoking Gun.
But Donahue, who was intoxicated, admitted to being inside the club with Caraway — a claim Santiago reportedly corroborated.
He was taken to Volusia County Jail. His bail was set at $500.
