Police in South Africa arrived at the accident scene to help the men in the overturned truck but when they refused to be helped, the cops became suspicious.
When the police investigated, they found out why.
The truck was loaded with 66 plastic bags of drugs weighing 287kg and with a street value of about R1,4 million.
It appears that the cream-white Toyota with the dagga had broken down and was being towed by a Ford Sierra on the Upington Road near Groblershoop in the Northern Cape on Friday afternoon.
The men were travelling from Bloemfontein to Keimoes.
But the driver of the Sierra lost control of the car, driving off the road.
Both vehicles landed on their roofs.
The patrolling cops wanted to assist but the six men refused the cops' help.
The cops insisted on helping and that is when they found the dagga.
Colonel Priscilla Naidu said the cops stopped at an accident scene where two vehicles had overturned.
"There were two people in the towed bakkie (truck) while another four were in the front bakkie. Nobody was seriously injured," she said.
"The men refused to be helped, but as it was an accident scene, the police investigated and found the dagga. Both vehicles belong to the same owner."
The six men, aged between 35 and 60, are from Bloemfontein.
They were arrested and appeared in court in Groblers-hoop.
