Father learns of son's death from school website

A father learned his son had died in a road accident when the 13-year-old's boarding school posted the news on its website.
Christopher Avery-Wright started receiving texts and emails of condolence as he raced to the hospital from his office after his son, William, was knocked down.
He was told the £30,000-a-year Worth School had announced his son's death before police had formally informed him.
Now insurance broker Mr Avery-Wright and his wife, Lisa, are suing the school over alleged failures in its duty of care to their son.
They say they have been 'living a life sentence' since William's death in 2011, aggravated by the way his father, 48, learned what happened.
William, a day pupil at the school near Crawley, West Sussex, was in the 'A' team for the school's football, cricket and rugby teams, as well as excelling in the classroom.
He was knocked down by a Range Rover as he crossed the 60mph B2110 to the school's rugby pitches. His parents claim he and his classmates should have been supervised.
They have called for headteacher Gino Carminati to resign but he has been exonerated by his board of governors and no criminal charges have been brought.
Mrs Avery-Wright, 43, said they would forgo any damages if Worth School would admit its failings.
She added: 'The school made the decision to post the news on its website almost immediately – before William's body had even been formally identified. So many people read about it on Facebook and Christopher was flooded with messages, emails and texts.
'We have no idea why the school would have done that.'
The school said: 'On the date of the accident the school attempted at all times to act correctly and it deeply regrets if any of its actions contributed to the distress of Mr and Mrs Avery-Wright.'
