South African singer Winnie Khumalo is in hospital fighting for her life.
The artist, who was born in Soweto, south of Jozi, posted on her Watsapp status that people should pray for her because she couldn't walk.
In an interview from her hospital bed on Thursday, she told SundaySun that she was seriously ill – and almost lost her life.
Winnie's illness came only days before the launch of her new album.
She said: "I'm very sick. I can't breathe properly or even sit up properly."
Winnie went into the operating theatre on Thursday, and surgeons drained her ulcers. She said: "I've been getting a lot of love from my fans.
"Positive messages have been pouring into my inbox and Facebook page and I'm grateful," she said.
The I Want To Live My Life singer says that ulcers can be deadly if people don't take care of the condition.
Her daughter, 2013 Idols contestant Rethabile, has been by her mum's side.
She has been pledging people to pray for her.
"She has been preparing for Idols. Last year she was under-age. And now when she has finally matured, her mother who is also her best friend and mentor has been taken seriously ill," said a family friend.
A friend said Winnie might take weeks to recover from the operation on her ulcers.
