DO you still remember the famous 1986 Diego Maradona Hand of God when Argentina played England in a World Cup semi-final match?
Without doubt many still remember and a number of local footballers have attempted to do it without success.
As fate will always have it, probably trying an "academic hand of God", former Warriors and Orlando Pirates steely defender Zvenyika Makonese was last week booted out of a Level Four coaching course class after it had emerged he does not possess a Level 3 coaching badge.
To attend the course, the 35 coaches who went into class were expected to be holders of Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 coaching badges.
"It's true that there is one of the coaches (Makonese) whom we thought he could not continue after we discovered that he did not have a Level 3 certificate," said Zimbabwe Coaches Association (Zisca) national secretary-general Oscar Mazhambe. "He thought he could jump stages but we told him that needs to acquire a Level 3 badge first. He is respected player who played at the highest level and such he should just work on getting the Level 3 badge and carry on.," added Mazhambe.
Initially, Makonese who is warmly known as Hardbody had reportedly gone AWOL at Shabanie Mine to attend the two weeks long course in Bulawayo. The Level Four coaching course, which had esteemed Gibson Homela and ex Mighty Warriors utility player Sithethelelwe "Kwinji 15" Sibanda as the instructors, now enables the 35 coaches that successfully completed it last Sunday to go for Caf C licence.
Among the Level Four graduates were ex Highlanders and Warriors midfield genius Johannes "Tshisa" Ngodzo, ex Bosso striker Chipo Tsodzo, former Warriors creative midfielder Ronald "Gidiza" Sibanda, ex Mighty Warriors captain Nomsa. "Boyz" Moyo, ZPC Kariba goalkeepers coach Tembo Chuma and Mzingwane High School first team coach Bekezela Mavundla among others.
"Generally we had a progressive course. The course went on well and the coaches benefited a lot and they are now allowed to go for a Caf C," said Mazhambe. He said their association is planning to have a Caf C course early next year.
