Mutare - Dangamvura residents witnessed a real life street theatre after three women clashed over matters of the heart. Mollyn Kusena who stays in Area C was 'taught a lesson' by two enraged women, Bassie Ruhukwa and Betty Matiya after they accused her of snatching their husband, Paul Sinakadzi.

Ruhukwa (21) a member of one of the churches in the area and Matiya (25) did the unthinkable and  meted rather too much of a punishment on Kusena after they delivered a series of merciless attacks and insults on her. Ruhukwa is Sinikadzi's first wife, while Matiya is the second wife and it seems they were not ready to share the cake with 'the new kid on the block' - Kusena.

The incident happened at Huruyadzo Bottle store at Boka Shopping Centre at around 6pm. The two recently appeared before Mutare magistrate, Ms Anne Ndiraya, facing indecent assault charges. Ruhukwa and Matiya did not say any word as allegations were laid against them in court. They were not asked to plead and were remanded out of custody on US$50 bail. The duo will be back in court on 8 May.

The court heard that on 23 April at 6pm, the duo arrived at Huruyadzo Butchery and confronted Kusena for wreaking their home by snatching their husband (Sinakadzi). Prosecutor, Mr Walter Saunyama said they quizzed Kusena about the matter and asked her to confess but she vehemently denied the allegations. Ruhukwa was the first to get high and allegedly took a hosepipe and assaulted her all over the her body. During the scuffle, Matiya reportedly joined and dragged Kusena to a cold room in the same butchery and they took turns to beat her.

It is further alleged that Kusena maintained her stance that she was not in love with Sinakadzi. This further infuriated the duo who then ordered Kusena to remove her clothes, but she resisted. They forcibly stripped her naked before Ruhukwa stretched Kusena's left leg, while Matiya was holding the right leg and allegedly poured some chilli into her 'honey jar'.

Kusena screamed for help after intense pain, but no one came to rescue her. However, Kusena eventually managed to escape and went home half naked, covering herself with a jacket on the bottom half of her body, the mermaid style, so it seems. Kusena went to her sister's place and a report to police was made leading to the arrest of the duo.

Ruhukwa last week confirmed that they executed the ruthless act in order to 'teach her the hard way'.

"Yes we did it, Takamurova asi takabhaiza. We beat her up because she had confessed that indeed she was having an affair with our husband. How could we tolerate such a thing?," she said.

Ruhukwa begged for the story not to be published. "Yes we did it, but please do not publish the story. I regret what I did, you know."

Contacted for comment, Kusena said: "I am not in love with Paul. It came to my knowledge that Sinikadzi actually plotted this because he no longer wanted me to work at his shop. I only asked for my outstanding salary when I quit my job, but he instead sent his wives to assault me and pour chilli into my privates. He framed me." - myzimbabwe
