Zimbabwe First Lady, Grace Mugabe has warned 21st February Movement beauty pageant finalists against immorality and promiscuity saying such behaviour often leads to unwanted pregnancies and hardships.
She addressed beauty pageants who had come to donate goodies to the Grace Mugabe Children’s Home in Mazowe.
“You should be careful not to be abused by older men who use money to lure you into unsanctioned marriages and other immoral activities that destroy marriages and produce unwanted babies,” said Mugabe.
She said while she is happy that she has managed to give shelter to the abandoned children at the home, society should interrogate why such incidents of abandoned babies and children have become prevalent.
She said present day Zimbabwe has many opportunities for women empowerment, adding that young women in the country should exploit them fully to fend for themselves.
The first lady, formerly Grace Marufu (47), was initially secretary to Robert Mugabe (89) and then became his mistress and together they had two children, Bona, named after Mugabe's mother, and Robert Peter, Jr.
In 1995, the fact that Grace had had two children by the Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe became public.
Between 1995 and 1996, Grace and her ex husband Stanley Goreraza divorced and Grace married Robert Mugabe in 1996 after the death of Mugabe's first wife, Sally Hayfron.
In 1997, Grace Mugabe gave birth to the couple's third child, Chatunga.
