A City of Harare employee reportedly gave his wife a thrashing after she demanded sex from him. Japhet Mukazva (28) bashed his wife Memory Chigunda (25) after she demanded to have sex with him. He preferred a more 'romantic' approach rather than rushing to have sex.
The wife-basher appeared before Mbare magistrate Stanford Mambanje facing a charge of assault. He was convicted on his own plea before being slapped with a wholly suspended three-month jail term, on condition he does not commit a similar offence. In his defence, Japhet indicated that his wife was not being romantic but instead was holding him roughly and that did not satisfy him in any way.
State counsel Fanuel Madanire proved that on 3 August, at around 1am, Japhet arrived home at House No. 74 Crowborough Way from a beer binge. Memory welcomed her husband and immediately requested that they have sex but she was shocked when her request was turned down. She kept on pestering him but all her efforts were in vain forcing her to grab him by force.
In ire, Japhet then grabbed her by the throat and thrashed her. She lodged a report with the police leading to Japhet's arrest.
