Uncertainty shrouds the distribution of Andy Brown's estate amid revelations that one of his children wants the family home to be sold in line with a previous court order.
Barely two weeks after Brown's death, his daughter Amara revealed that she wanted to sell the Cranborne house as per the court order.
It is said that the house was jointly bought by Brown and his late ex-wife Soraya Khan. When they divorced 19 years ago, the court order directed them to sell the house and share the proceeds as part of the divorce settlement. However, the court order could not be enforced immediately since Brown remained in the house with their two children, Amara and Shahla, who later moved out, but Brown remained at the house.
After a misunderstanding with Brown, Khan indicated that she would sell the house anytime in December last year. Khan then died in January before she could sell the house. And two months later, Brown also succumbed to severe pneumonia. Amara, however, hinted that the house would not be sold anytime soon since it required some renovations.
She also said she did not want to be hard on Nadine and her brothers.
"I have had a chat with Nadine and told her that she can put her life together whilst at the house.
"I am willing to help her in any way I can. As for the boys, they are my brothers and I am going to do all I can for their upkeep, but the bottom line is the house has to be sold," she said.
The house is still home to Brown's three children - Jason, Andy (Junior) and Al Zaeed - who are living with Nadine. Nadine could not comment on the impending sale of the house, only saying she knew that Brown did not want it to be sold.
"All I know is that the old man didn't want it to be sold. If he had wanted it to be sold, that could have happened some 19 years ago when he got divorced," she said.
"The good thing is the old man had a lawyer and we will be hearing how my husband wanted his property to be shared."
Brown had 10 children with seven women.
Affectionately known as "Muzukuru", Brown was one of the most gifted guitarists to emerge in Zimbabwe and is credited with grooming several young artistes.
