Former Big Brother 7 contestant and model Babalwa "Barbz" Mneno is officially off the market.
The former beauty queen will reportedly soon walk down the aisle with a mystery man from East Africa.
Last week, Barbz refused to release photos and name of her husband-to-be but friends told Sunday Sun that Babalwa is sporting a Bulgari ring and the couple has been celebrating around the world.
They have met each other's families and a well-placed source said it has been difficult for Babalwa to find a man – because of her high-profile status and misconceptions about her.
"Bad things have been said about her, that she was a gold-digger," said the source.
Last week Barbz said: "I won't deny or confirm whether we're married. We've been dating for almost a year – and yes, we've been travelling and having fun!"
She added: "I've learnt from past experience to nurture and protect my relationship by keeping it from the media."
For Babalwa, life seems perfect at the moment. And love is not the only thing making her happy – it seems work is also going well!
She said she had a great journey on the show, Check Reality, with Khanyi Mbau and former TV presenter Nonhle Thema.
"It was stressful because of early call times and the pressure of shooting 12 episodes in 12 days – but it was all worthwhile in the end," she said.
"I've been doing a lot of work in Nigeria, including a sitcom, AY, which is on M-Net and a movie titled, Finding Love.
"I was also a guest star on Nigeria's reality show called The Island," she told the People's Paper.
Babalwa, who hosts Wednesday night at Club Cocooned, says she is in no rush to start a family.
She explained: "I don't submit to pressure because society won't help me raise my baby. I support my entire family and at the moment they are my focus. If Halle Berry can have a baby at 46 I'm sure I can also do it," said Babalwa.
In another happy end to a cross-border love affair, former Miss SA Tansey Coetzee is engaged to her Nigerian businessman boyfriend. After dating for four years, he popped the question last week.
