A 61 year old man from Bulawayo has been dragged to court by his landlord with accusations that he is cohabiting with the landlord's 25 year old daughter.
Eugene Moyo (60) is seeking an eviction order for his tenant Isiah Moyo who is having a relationship with his daughter Lorraine Nozipho Moyo.
Eugene said he was disgusted that his daughter insisted on living with a man who is more than twice her age and older than her father.
He said the two could be related because they share the same surname.
The court heard that Isiah has been living with Lorraine since 2014. He told the court it was unfair for him to be thrown out because he was looking after his girlfriend and her child. “I haven’t given her a child of mine yet but I look after her and her child using money I earn from fixing watches in town. If you throw me out they won’t have anyone to look after them,” said Isiah.
Lorraine vehemently opposed the order, claiming that the house was given to her by her late grandmother.
Western Commonage magistrate Abednico Ndebele yesterday granted the application for eviction.
“In the meantime, Isiah you have to leave that house and find somewhere to stay. If you really love the young girl then you have to send a delegation to your in-laws and ask for her hand in marriage,” he said.
“As for you Eugene, it’s unfortunate that your daughter couldn’t find herself a younger man. It seems she has found great comfort in the company of a man older than you so if they want to marry its best you accept their decision,” said Mr Ndebele.
Lorraine is no stranger to the courts. She is performing community service after Western Commonage Magistrate Tancy Dube convicted her for violating a protection order granted by the High court in May. Lorraine had insulted her family members, calling them idiots after her father had asked her to chase her boyfriend from home.
