Several residents of Harare have spoken on the conviction and sentencing of Munyaradzi Kereke who was jailed for 10 years after raping a 11 year old girl.
Many said it is time for him to pay for whatever he perpetrated, while many asked how many more cases are in similar category where the rich and famous are blocking their prosecution, and how many families have been short-changed by the state for refusal of prosecution.
Others attacked women and girls' organisations for failing to step up and support the girl child.
Musekiwa Makwanya said it is quite disturbing that two women related to the girl, her grandmother and aunt (Kereke's wife), stood in Kereke's corner supporting the perpetrator.
Makwanya added that women and children's groups should revisit their modus operandi as this case is a clear victory of the rule of law, showing that the mighty, rich and famous can also face justice.
