Gweru City Council council minutes have revealed that council clinics have recorded very low patient visits, prompting fears services had plummeted to unprecedented levels or residents could no longer afford clinic fees.
Minutes of the council's health and housing committee meeting indicate that city fathers were worried over the trend and had tasked management to investigate the matter.
Part of the minutes indicated that the council queried whether this was because people were not getting sick or it was because people were not satisfied with services being offered at council clinics.
During a tour of the municipal clinics, which were renovated by Unki Mine last year, health services acting director, Christopher Ruwodo noted that most of them had inadequate nursing staff, an issue which compromised service delivery.
