Three Umguza men found themselves in murky waters after they were found in possession of a gun which they alleged was picked up in a bushy area.
Grifix Moyo ,21, Vusumuzi Mabhena ,32, and a juvenile aged 16 instead of reporting the matter to the police, decided to keep it for reasons best known to them.
They were arrested after a tip off to the police that the trio had a fire arm and a brown 303 SRG rifle serial number 2338 which was loaded with one round of ammunition was found at Plot number 46 in Klipstring farm, Umguza.
The three appeared before the courts and pleaded not guilty to the charge citing that the rifle was not theirs as they had picked it up in the bush.
However, their excuse did not let them off the hook as they were reminded that they were supposed to swiftly report the matter to the police.
The magistrate remanded them in custody to 8 April.
