Ndimimbili Secondary banned Mahewu brewing after 80 pupils were admitted at St Lukes hospital on ingestion of a poison laced brew.
The pupils vomited and had running tummies after they took the poisonous mahewu.
They were rushed to St Lukes hospital where some were admitted for days
The brew was part of a feeding scheme in the school
Matebeland north provincial education director, Boithatelo Mguni, confirmed the incident to a local tabloid, and said they were waiting for results from the samples taken from the brew.
Parents were threatening to transfer their children from the school.
Bmetro
