A woman from Mpopoma suburb is ruing the day she allowed her neighbour to take her two-year-old daughter to the shops to buy her biscuits as the man was later found touching the girl's private parts claiming it was his ‘property' and the toddler was his lover.
Brian Tatire (29) reportedly claimed the toddler was his lover and had to pay for the biscuits which he had bought her.
The man was caught by the toddler's sister at his home inserting his finger into the child's private parts.
When she asked him what he was doing, he reportedly appeared relaxed telling her that the toddler was his lover and had to pay for the biscuits he had bought for her.
The sister alerted her mother and they swiftly reported the matter to police leading to the accused arrest.
Tatire appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Temba Chimiso facing a charge of indecent assault.
The court heard that on 6 0ctober at around 9am, the accused arrived at the complainant's home and found her playing with her sister aged 13.
The man on a mission then told the girl's mother that he wanted to go with the toddler to the shops to buy her biscuits.
Not suspecting any bad behaviour from the neighbour, the woman allowed Tatire to go with the toddler.
It is reported that after 15 minutes, the woman got worried on why the man had gone for too long than she expected. She then ordered her daughter (13) to go and collect the toddler at the accused place.
When the girl got at the accused place, she found the man busy having great time touching the toddler's private parts.
The accused upon realising that he had been caught, he told the sister that the toddler was his lover and he had to touch her private parts as a way of paying for the biscuits he had bought for her.
However, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges citing that the girl fabricated the story.
He was remanded in custody to 10 October for continuation of trial.
