A 56 YEAR-OLD man from Bulawayo's Pumula South suburb brutally assaulted his wife before throwing plates at her and chasing her out of their matrimonial home for questioning him after she found him with another woman in their bedroom, a court heard.
Western Commonage magistrate Mr Willard Maphios Moyo was told that on the evening of 14 November, Mr Mika Ncube, of House Number 13433 Pumula South, flew into a rage and assaulted his wife, Ms Sithabile Ndlovu (32), with fists all over the body for questioning him about a strange woman in their bedroom.
Prosecuting, Mr Mufaro Mageza, told the court that on 14 November at about 7pm, Ms Ndlovu arrived home from the shops and on walking into their bedroom, she found her husband in the company of another woman.
The court was told that Ms Ndlovu questioned her husband about the presence of the woman during which an altercation ensued between the two.
Mr Ncube got angry, pulled his wife out of their bedroom and started to assault her with fists before throwing plates at her.
"When the complainant asked who the other woman was, Mr Ncube got angry and started to punch her before he threw plates at her," said Mr Mageza.
Mr Ncube ordered his wife to leave their home.
According to a medical report, Ms Ndlovu sustained facial bruises following the assault. She was taken to hospital for treatment.
In her statement, Ms Ndlovu told the court that her husband was in the habit of assaulting her each time she found her with another woman.
"This was my second time to catch my husband with another woman and each time I question him, he becomes violent and assault me," she said.
Mr Moyo convicted Mr Ncube on his own plea of guilty to physical abuse charges.
He sentenced him to three months in jail, which was wholly suspended for five years on condition that he does not within that period commit a similar offence.
