Nkayi man jailed 12 years for killing father in law
A Nkayi man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for killing four years ago.
Cephas Magagula accused his brother in law, Collet Sibanda of having an affair with his wife.
Bulawayo High Court judge Justice Martin Makonese on Circuit in Hwange last week convicted Magagula on his own plea of guilt.
Justice Makonese said he considered that he was a first offender who pleaded guilty and showed contrition.
In aggravation, State counsel Miss Namatirai Ngwasha said Magagula failed to control his emotions when he was angered by the illicit affair.
She told how in December 2009 Magagula met Sibanda in a bush where he was fetching firewood.
Magaugula confronted him demanding to know why he was having an affair with his wife.
The court heard that Magagula picked a log and hit Sibanda on the ribs and head and he collapsed.
After that he started assaulting him all over the body and was restrained by his brothers Fanisani and Thembani Magagula.
An unconscious Sibanda was carried home but he died a few minutes later.
