When police in South Africa were called to deal with a tokoloshe (goblin) they went in force last week in eight marked police vehicles to bust the horrible creature.
Next thing, they were fleeing for their lives!
One cop told Daily Sun he'd never seen such a thing in his life.
"I tried to investigate, making rounds in the yard and I saw green eyes," he said.
"I was terrified. I dropped my torch and ran!"
Kate Kgamadi (47) and her family of zone 20 in Ga-Rankuwa, north of Tshwane, say the evil thing has kept them awake for over a month.
The tokoloshe haunts her house and throws stones on her roof every night when her family goes to bed.
Nothing helps, she says, not the prayers of residents or even the cops.
Dailysun visited Kate's home on several nights - and found that stones really were being thrown but no one saw where they came from.
Kate said the problem began in April last year.
"The thing started knocking on our door and shaking our burglar bars. But we saw nothing."
Once they called their neighbour to check as they were too scared to go out.
But the neighbour saw nothing even though the shaking and knocking was bad.
They called the police last year.
"They looked everywhere and saw nothing," said Kate.
"Some even slept in the house. They were shocked that although they heard the knocking there was no one there," Kate said.
For a while the tokoloshe stopped coming, but then it came back last month.
And this time it was throwing stones.
"At first we thought that it was our neighbours or a nasty person trying to scare us," said Kate.
"But there was no one there," she said.
That was when they called the police again last week.
But it didn't help.
