Residents at a suburb in Bulawayo witnessed a man who was claiming that he had been abandoned by his colleagues.
The man who identified himself as Thulani and said he was from Matopo claimed that his expedition made up of his grandmother, grandfather and a brother had fled in a wheelchair which they had "drove" in from Matabeleland South.
Thulani alleged that when the unfortunate incident befell him they had stopped at house number 7135/4 Pumula North for a "recess".
The four, according to the suspected wizard, were on their way to Cowdray Park to bewitch a relative.
"When we got here we wanted to drink water but we all started feeling weak and they managed to get into the wheelchair and go away while I could not. I tried calling them but they refused to come back saying they will pass by on our way back to Matopo," said the man.
The man also left the crowd at a loss of words after claiming that he was seeing his colleagues standing by the gate and when he was asked to call them, he started whistling but he said they were refusing to get into the yard.
"I am calling them but they are saying it's too risky. None of you can see them but I can," he said.
The man reportedly pleaded with residents to let him go saying he was supposed to get to Matopo before sun rise.
The residents however, took him to the police. A source said Thulani was released without being charged in the morning.
The owner of the house where the drama ensued said she was at a loss of words.
"We read and see these things on newspapers and television but today it happened at my house. I really don't know what to say.
"We were awakened by a neighbour who phoned saying someone had opened my tap. When we peeped through the window we saw him standing there and I called other neighbours and in no time my house had been filled by people," she said.
Thulani could not be reached for a comment as he disappeared upon being released by the police.
