Man confesses to killing someone in Youtube video

A drink driver has confessed to killing a man in a powerful online video, where he begs others not to repeat his mistake.
Matthew Cordle begins his video confession by saying "I killed a man" before describing how, after a night of heavy drinking with friends, he got in his truck and decided to drive home.
With his face blurred as he talks to the camera, he says: "I ended up going the wrong way down the highway, directly into oncoming traffic, and I struck a car. I killed a man."
After the crash, he says he consulted "high powered" lawyers who told him they could get him off any charges.
"But I won't go down that path," he says, before his face suddenly comes into clear view.
He then confesses: "My name is Matthew Cordle, and on June 22 2013 I hit and killed Vincent Canzani. This video will act as my confession.
"When I get charged I will plead guilty, and take full responsibility for everything I've done to Vincent and his family.
"If I take a different route, maybe I'd get a reduced sentence and maybe I'd get off, but I won't dishonour Vincent's memory by lying about what happened."
He adds that he knows the video will give prosecutors everything they need to "put me away for a very long time", but says he is willing to take the sentence so he can pass on his message not to drink and drive.
"I'm begging you, please don't drink and drive," he said. "Don't make the same excuses I did.
"Don't say it's only a few miles, you've only had a few beers or you do it all the time and it'll never happen to you. Because it happened to me, and all of those are just excuses to make yourself feel better about a decision that you know is wrong. It could cost lives."
He finishes by saying he can't bring Mr Canzani back, "but your victims can still be saved".
The three-and-a-half minute video was posted by website Because I Said I Would - an American non-profit group "dedicated to bettering humanity through the power of a promise."
According to the site, Mr Cordle is yet to be charged with any offence.
