Elizabeth Alberty, a 59-year-old Oklahoma, US, woman, was jailed Monday after she allegedly used a hammer to cripple her 14-year-old son.
According to Oklahoma City Police, officers were dispatched to a OKC residence after a man found a 14-year-old boy crawling on his hands and knees near his home.
Investigators say the teen asked the man to take him to his friend's house because he was afraid to go home.
The man carried him into the friend's house where the homeowner called 911.
The boy was rushed to a local hospital where he was treated and then interviewed by officers.
During the interview, the boy stated that his mother, Elizabeth Alberty, had beaten him with a hammer.
When officers arrived at Alberty's home, they found her outside in the driveway.
When officers asked where her 14-year-old son was, she first gave a false name and then claimed that her son had run away.
After police revealed that her son was at the hospital, the woman stated that he had been injured when she dropped a copy machine on his feet earlier in the week.
At that point officers decided they had heard enough and placed Alberty into custody.
She was booked into jail and charged with child abuse. She remains held in lieu of $10,000 bond.
