Two alleged gang members were rescued by cops from dozens of angry residents who had almost beaten them to death.
More than 300 residents of Booysens Park in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, chased away the paramedics who were trying to rescue the bleeding suspects.
One of the men was badly injured and battling to breathe.
It's alleged that the suspects belong to a gang known as Big Nuz, which terrorises the community at night.
The two suspects were accused of shooting dead a tavern owner and a photographer.
Cops had to use rubber bullets to disperse the crowd.
Residents told Daily Sun: "The gang now has more than 20 members and they use a Toyota Quantum to do their evil work. They go about in groups of five.
"They rob, rape and kill us. We all need to be indoors by 7pm."
One of the residents said: "Our cops are useless. This is the best way to deal with these dogs."
Police Captain Johan Rheeder said two men in their late twenties were shot dead in a tavern on Saturday night.
"Yesterday morning, two men were beaten up but our records show that no one has opened a case about thugs terrorising them.
"According to what we were told, one suspect shot the two murdered men. We plead to the community to come forward,' said Rheeder.
The injured suspects were rushed to hospital.
