A 70-year-old ex-service man identified as Anthony Hermon was yesterday discovered killed and set ablaze by his killer to hide the dastardly act in the bush in Bayelsa State, Nigeria.
Security operatives attached to the Nigerian state police command have launched a manhunt for the killer of the 70 years old ex-service man.
The suspected killer identified as one Didi Odudu, was alleged to have trailed the deceased to the farm located at Ewhogho bush and attacked him with a huge stick. The deceased was reported to have passed out and the suspected killer reportedly mutilated his body.
According to some members of the community, the suspect later gathered pile of dry leaves and sticks to cover the mutilated body and set it on fire. The heavy smoke and smell of burning flesh attracted the attention of the indigenes of Otuokpotu community.
One of the villagers, Kelvin Oruoa, told
Leadership that "the smell was offensive. Many youths and other elders organised a search party to know the source. We discovered the site and found the suspect with blood stains."
