Wang Yue’s creations, including a cat peering from the bark, a pair of racoons, the sun setting over a lake and a red-headed bird, are proving very popular locally and online.
The works were inspired by a simple stroll along the street.
The 23-year-old rushed home to run her project idea past friends and family, soon grabbing her palette and brushes and setting about bringing some colour to an otherwise dreary medium.
Ms Wang calls her group of eight paintings ‘meitu’, meaning ‘beautiful journey’ in Chinese and intends to extend her living art exhibition.
The final year student at Dalian polytechnic has drawn plaudits from people of Shijiazhuang in Hebei Province, China, but her work is gaining an international following after friend Li Yue posted her tree-hole artistry on the internet.
Fans have called Ms Wang an angel, while others have asked her to paint hollows in the streets where they live.
