Harare woman refuses to be divorced

James Bleya, a Harare man who recently grabbed headlines after being arrested at his own wedding has hit back at his first wife by taking her to court seeking protection order against her.
Bleya is accusing his first wife Ndakaziva Marange of refusing to be divorced. He suggested that she was obsessed with him to the extent that Marange was getting violent towards him.
"I don't love her anymore but she doesn't take it. I have moved on with my life and married the woman I love but she can't understand," said Bleya before magistrate Tatenda Manhanzva.
Bleya said at one point he attempted to pay a divorce token but her in laws demanded a whopping $9000 which he said he could not afford.
In court Marange did not deny that she refused to be divorced but said she would accept divorce on condition that Bleya processes birth certificates for their children.
"James delays paying school fees for the kidsand sometimes he doesn't pay at all, that is how I end up visiting him at his workplace" she said.
Magistrate Manhnzva granted them both reciprocal protection order and ordered them to observe peace towards each other.
