A man from Collen Brown in Gwanda used his dirty antics to take off juveniles' pants and impregnated four girls after 'turning them on' by showing the a pornographic video on his phone. The man's victims are reported to be between 11 and 13 years old.
The residents got to know of the incident during the school holidays when it was discovered that two girls who are best friends were pregnant. A reliable source who spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed the incident.
"It's so sad that the people whom the society respects are the ones who abuse children. Two weeks after schools had closed, it was discovered that the two girls doing Grade Seven were pregnant and when their parents interrogated them, they revealed that they were impregnated by a 46-year-old man (name withheld)," he said.
The source added that the word started spreading and it came out that there were more children who had been affected.
"The parents only discovered that there were four girls pregnant and the fuming parents approached the suspect, but he denied the accusations. The girls revealed that the man would call them separately and make them watch the pornographic video on his phone. He would then start touching them all over the body before forcing himself on them," said the source.
The girls kept the matter a secret until they got pregnant. It is alleged that the parents never reported the matter to police as they were waiting for schools to open so that they could find out if there were more victims.
Sensing danger, the man escaped before the beginning of the schools' second term and his whereabouts are still unknown. When our news crew visited the area, residents confirmed that there were juveniles who got pregnant after claiming to have been forced to watch a pornographic video and raped.
Another teacher only identified as Mrs Ngwenya said: "There was a time when children were beaten up after being caught watching pornographic video. It seems a lot had been happening and we will be updated when schools open. We will only have names of the affected girls when schools open."
She added that a lot was happening at the compounds and elders were doing what was least expected of them. Parents of the affected children refused to talk to media saying they were waiting for schools to open and take the matter to the responsible authorities.
