Messaging giant, WhatsApp has completed a security project which it deems will give Government organizations and hackers a hard time prying into private messages by its application users.
WhatsApp has implemented strong end-to-end encryption on its communication app across all mobile platforms.
End-to-end encryption is a secure method of communication that shuts out any prying eavesdroppers and hackers.
This move gives app users of the recent updated version of Whatsapp an ability to send messages securely through end-to-end encryption.
End-to-end encryption means the contents of communications are not stored in plain text on WhatsApp’s servers and hence are undecipherable by hackers.
This development comes after the Zimbabwean Lawyers For Human Rights group revealed that close to 150 cases have been recorded of people being arrested for slandering top Government officials.
The latest case being the arrest of a Nyanga man, Ernest Matsapa,46, for circulating a video slandering President Robert Mugabe on the social application, Whatsapp.
Matsapa is set to appear before the courts on April 29 facing charges of criminal nuisance.
