Two
video clips capturing Kayne West performing a song at Monday's Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art provide a tease of the sound the star will feature on his upcoming CD.
West's screaming has apparently angered the event's bosses.
One clip created by a DJ in attendance, named A-Trak — finds West intoning "I Am A God," over an ominous synthesizer intro.
The declaration/outburst is followed by a rash of primal screams from the star. Rumors had swirled earlier this year that West would title his new CD, "I Am A God."
The "god" portion of the piece recalls the sinister sound of a 1968 hit "Fire" by British band The Crazy World of Arthur Brown. That song begins with Brown yelling "I am the god of hellfire."
Interestingly, West once prominently used a sample from King Crimson's "21st Century Schizoid Man," a song from 1969, which has a similar sense of imminent doom to the Brown track.
Both pieces revealed have an electronic backdrop that may be the handiwork of the French electro group Daft Punk.
The hit duo have said they produced two tracks from West's upcoming album and they've worked with the star before.
