Former Studio 263 actress and radio presenter Tinopona 'DJ Tin Tin' Katsande has blasted Zanu PF's deputy leader and Vice President Amai Mujuru for trying to protect corruption in the government-linked institutions.
Mujuru was addressing a women's conference at the weekend when she suggested that those leaking details about the corruption at parastatals are ZANU PF people bent on destroying the government and the party from within.
DJ Tin Tin literally said Vice President Mujuru's utterances were merely meaningless.
"Eish ndirikunetsekana ini with Mai Mujuru's stance on #salarygate mufunge! I love my VP and my party but on this one I am struggling to see where she is coming from or indeed where she is going with this. Thing is we need to ALL wake up and smell the 'hacha' - WE ARE NO LONGER in an 'inclusive gvt' set up. Folks need to be held accountable. Let #transparency , # responsibility be our values from here on out. #VivaZimbabwe."
Mujuru was quoted in the State media castigating the exposure of corrupt activities in parastatals and related companies in the media, arguing that this was the work of detractors bent on destroying Government and stall its programmes.
"Nditeererei madzimai, Iyi nyaya yatiri kutaura iyi yehuori hwemaparastatals muchenjere kuti ndeimwe nzira yaunzwa nevanhu vari kuda kupwanya nyika ino iyi (Please listen to me ladies, regarding reports about corruption in parastatals - be careful — it's another tactic being used by those keen to destroy the country)," she said.
But Katsande respondced saying corrupt people should be exposed and if possible be removed from their respective positions.
She added that "Zuva nezuva tiri kumuka tichienda kumabasa , regardless what the job is so that we feed our families and in turn contribute to a better Zimbabwe. I have since learnt that sometimes it is necessary to destroy in order to rebuild. Yes perhaps the 'exposed' May not be prosecuted but they must be 'exposed' and, where possible, removed.
She also urged the media to continue 'doing the good work' in exposing corruption and 'salarygate'.
"Zimbabwe is visibly hurt and livered. Its distracting us from our spirit of "onward march" so I implore the media to keep at it. It serves as a form of national healing in my book which we so desperately need (even tho folks may not wana talk about it).

Opposition political parties swiftly came in and called for the immediate resignation of Vice-President Joice Mujuru for trying to muzzle newspapers that have been exposing corruption in State-owned institutions.
The MDC-T said it suspected that Mujuru was protecting her Zanu PF faction. MDC-T national spokesperson Douglas Mwonzora said Mujuru should step down for condoning corruption and she should be investigated by the Anti-Corruption Commission.
"The MDC-T is extremely disgusted and outraged by the utterances of Mujuru reported in today's (yesterday) Herald that the on-going exposure of corruption by the Press is the work of the country's detractors. This is highly offensive and is an insult to the people of Zimbabwe. The utterances by Mujuru are calculated to threaten the Press from reporting on corruption by Zanu PF officials," said Mwonzora.
