Innocent Nkosi (39) has survived a brutal attack but he is terrified that he may spend the rest of his life in hiding.
His legs were burnt with a hot iron and his privates were squeezed with a pair of pliers on Sunday afternoon.
He claims this happened because a traditional healer, using a mirror, said Innocent knew where a missing mentally disabled boy, Wandi Buthelezi (12) was.
Innocent said two women came to his flat and told him that a man named Sbu, who lives in live in the same block of flats in Hillbrow, Johannesburg wanted to see him.
Innocent who is not friends with Sbu, decided not to go but later he went downstairs to open the door for his flatmate.
Then four men with guns dragged him to the man's place.
Innocent said: "He was with the men and five women.
"They said I should tell them where the child was..."
His arms and legs were tied together and they started beating and kicking him.
"I told them I knew nothing.
"Then they plugged in the iron and burnt my leg," said Innocent.
Innocent was then dumped in the unused basement of the building where he lives.
Speaking to Daily Sun from his hiding place, Innocent said he was treated at Charlotte Maxeke Hospital and the man has been arrested.
But Innocent is not going back to his flat.
"Those people are dangerous. I don't want to take chances," he said.
Hillbrow police spokesman, Constable Mduduzi Zondo, said a man was arrested for kidnap and assault.
He is expected to appear in court soon.
