Prominent Gweru music promoter, Esau Hondora, who was last week convicted of robbery, has been sentenced to a year in prison.
Hondora and his accomplice, Proud Mhaka, on Monday appeared before the courts facing one count of robbery.
They were each sentenced to a year in jail.
Three months of their sentence were suspended on condition of good behaviour while a further three months were suspended on condition that the duo pays Robson Vungani, the complainant, $950 before June 30.
The duo is accused of stealing $1,300 and a Samsung Galaxy S6 edge cellphone from Vungani.”
Clad in khaki prison garb, Hondora, who recently assisted with the organisation of the inaugural Gweru Carnival as well as promoting most of Alick Macheso’s shows in the Midlands and Bulawayo provinces, looked dejected as he stood in the dock while Taruvinga read the sentence.
